Costa Rica: Biodiversity & Conservation

This program will take participants to two key destinations in Costa Rica, each offering unique insights into the country's conservation efforts and ecosystems. The itinerary is designed to immerse students in hands-on learning experiences, allowing them to apply the concepts and ethical models they've developed during their course.

Cuba: Environmental Sciences & Sustainability

Cuba's well-protected coral reef system, botanical gardens, mountains & wetlands make it one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Its protected lands have grown by 43% since 1986, as a result of the government integrating sustainability into policy initiatives.

Students will get a fresh look at environmental science & sustainability as they visit key organizations and participate in educational and cultural exchanges with Cuban residents.

Cuba: Nursing & Health Education

Cuba’s universal healthcare system is one of the best in the world, in part due to their focus on prevention & health education. Havana’s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) is one of the largest medical institutions in the world, attracting students from more than 100 countries. And the country’s advanced biotechnical industry has received international attention with the development of the cancer vaccine, Cimavax.

Students will get a first-hand look at Cuba’s healthcare system by meeting physicians & nurses to discuss how health practices are implemented at the local level. There will also be opportunities to visit local centers where the group will learn about health education.

Greece: Medicinal & Cultural Practices Across Ikaria

Exercise your body and mind in Ikaria through transformative experiences including yoga, hiking, and visits to local medical institutions. You’ll explore several sites across Ikaria including Therma, Armenistis, and Rahes, each offering in-depth learning opportunities focused on the natural world and human body. Seek to understand the lifestyles & mindset of people in Blue Zones, where the highest number of centenarians live. Students will meet centenarians & local experts to explore several theories of longevity.

Peru: Physical Therapy

Transform your mind and spirit through dedicated hands-on experiences in physical therapy. Serve underserved areas through service-learning projects by providing free care, supporting rehabilitation exercises, and offering educational resources to strengthen the overall understanding of health and wellbeing. Throughout the program, refine your understanding of Peruvian culture & history through various excursions and activities!

Tanzania: Ecology, Wildlife & Evolutionary Genetics

In this program, open to both Biology & non-Biology majors, we’ll explore the country’s ecology & evolutionary patterns. Excursions will include safaris in the Serengeti National Park & Ngorongoro Crater, visits to Olduvai Gorge where Australopithecus once roamed & ancient rituals with the Maasai Tribe. Join us as we experience one of the most ecologically exciting & evolutionary significant sites in the world!

Tanzania: Engineering & Sustainable Development

This program provides students with the opportunity to analyze and apply engineering principles to real-world challenges and sustainable development projects in Tanzania. Students will critically assess the impact of engineering solutions on both the environment and society, with a focus on ethical and sustainability considerations. The program includes collaboration with local engineers and communities to design and implement culturally relevant and sustainable solutions. Through personal experiences and cultural immersion, students will develop a global perspective on engineering and its role in addressing societal needs.

Tanzania: Nursing & Women's Health

Broaden your horizons by immersing yourself in the diverse healthcare landscapes of another culture. This experiential itinerary offers a deeper dive into how global health systems operate, from patient care to community outreach, by facilitating guided visits to local hospitals, medical centers, and women’s facilities.

Tanzania: Wildlife Observation & Maasai Water Catchment Project

This service project helps to provide one of the human race’s most essential needs – water. Help build a water catchment for a Maasai community to provide them with a fresh water supply. While camping & volunteering at the Maasai community, you’ll learn about their daily lives & the natural resources they use for medicinal purposes. And to add to this unique experience, you’ll enjoy several safari game drives to discover the wonderful wildlife of Tanzania, participate in cultural activities, cycle tours & more!
