Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival - Mexico City
Upon arrival at Mexico City’s airport, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can begin to immerse yourself in one of the oldest and most culturally vibrant capitals in the world. Mexico City is layered with centuries of history—from its origins as the Aztec capital Tenochtitlán to its development as the seat of Spanish colonial power. Take a moment to feel the energy of a city where ancient civilizations and colonial elegance coexist.

Day 2: Mexico City Tour
Start your day at the National Museum of Anthropology, arguably Latin America’s most important museum. Here, you will encounter incredible artifacts such as the Aztec Sun Stone (Piedra del Sol) and displays that narrate the rich histories of Mexico’s indigenous civilizations, including the Maya, Olmec, and Zapotec peoples. After absorbing this wealth of pre-Hispanic history, head to Xochimilco, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient canal system. Experience a colorful trajinera (flat-bottomed boat) ride along waterways originally built by the Aztecs over a thousand years ago, soaking in the festive atmosphere steeped in tradition. Later, venture to the historic heart of Mexico City to visit the National Palace, home to Diego Rivera’s monumental murals depicting Mexico’s turbulent past, the Metropolitan Cathedral that embodies the fusion of European Gothic and Baroque styles constructed atop the sacred Aztec temple precinct, and the Zócalo, one of the largest public plazas in the world, which has been a central gathering place since pre-Columbian times.

Day 3: Mexico City - Teotihuacan
Today, explore the spiritual and historical tapestry of Mexico starting with the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the Americas. It symbolizes the merging of indigenous beliefs and Catholicism since the Virgin’s apparition to Saint Juan Diego in 1531. Next, visit the Plaza of the Three Cultures—so named because it integrates architectural remnants from Mexico’s pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern eras within a single square, highlighting the convergence of civilizations. Then journey onwards to Teotihuacan, the “City of the Gods.” As one of the largest archaeological sites in the Americas, Teotihuacan’s monumental Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon reveal the grandeur of an ancient metropolis that influenced Mesoamerican culture for centuries. Walking these sacred avenues, feel the pulse of a civilization that thrived long before the Aztecs revered this place. Return to Mexico City for the evening.

Day 4: Coyoacán - Mexico City
Begin your day in Coyoacán, a charming colonial neighborhood that retains the air of a traditional Mexican village within the sprawling metropolis. Stroll through its cobblestone streets and vibrant plazas that once inspired intellectuals and artists. Visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, known as La Casa Azul (The Blue House), where the iconic painter lived and created. Inside, you’ll find a vivid glimpse into her life, art, and turbulent relationship with Diego Rivera, alongside personal artifacts that narrate both her pain and passion. As night falls, experience the lively cultural heart of Mexico City at Plaza Garibaldi. Famous for its electric atmosphere and mariachi bands, this square is a joyous celebration of Mexican music and folklore. Listen to the live mariachi performances and enjoy a folkloric show, offering a stirring auditory and visual tableau of Mexican traditions.

Day 5: Mexico City - Mérida
Fly to the Yucatán Peninsula and arrive in Mérida, a city that beautifully juxtaposes Mayan heritage with Spanish colonial influences. Visit the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya, a modern architectural marvel that showcases the history, art, and spirituality of the Maya civilization that flourished here. Then explore Mérida’s historic center featuring the Government Palace, which houses murals depicting the region’s history, the Casa de Montejo—a spectacular 16th-century manor belonging to one of the Spanish conquistadors—and Mérida Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals on the American continent built atop a former Mayan temple site. Walk Paseo de Montejo, a grand boulevard lined with elegant mansions reminiscent of France’s Champs-Élysées, reflecting the city’s prosperous past. In the evening, sample craft beers infused with Yucatán flavors as you unwind in this city that pulses with living heritage.

Day 6: Mérida - Chichén Itzá - Cancun
Today’s highlight is a full-day visit to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ancient Mayan city was a major economic and religious hub, and its landmarks—such as El Castillo (the Temple of Kukulcán), the Great Ball Court, and the Temple of the Warriors—stand testament to Mayan astronomical knowledge, architectural mastery, and ritual life. Discover the stories encoded in the pyramid’s shadows during equinoxes, and walk among other monumental ruins that evoke the mysteries of this once-great civilization. Later, continue your journey to vibrant Cancun for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Return Home
After a culturally immersive journey through Mexico’s multifaceted history, you will be transferred to Cancun Airport for your departure flight home, carrying with you the profound stories and vivid memories of this land where ancient and modern worlds coexist so dynamically.
