Itinerary

Day 1: Athens
Arrive in Athens, the historic capital of Greece, and enjoy a welcome dinner as a group.

Day 2: Athens
After breakfast, embark on a fascinating journey through the heart of Athens, beginning with a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium, an ancient site famed for hosting the original Olympic Games. Enjoy some time for photography before continuing to Zappeion Hall, the Greek Parliament, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Stroll along the significant Panepistimiou Street to admire the neoclassical triad of the Library, the Academy, and the University.

You'll visit the iconic Acropolis, taking in its majestic monuments like the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the ancient Agora—all integral to Greece's rich history and culture. You'll also explore the Areopagus, also known as Mars Hill, where Paul delivered his profound sermon about the "Unknown God" (Acts 12:22-31).

Day 3: Corinth
Today, journey to Corinth, a city that played a vital role in Paul's ministry. Corinth was a bustling hub or trade and culture, where Paul spent 18 months preaching the message of Christ and establishing a strong community of believers. Walk around the ancient ruins, seeing where Paul worked, lived, and preached, and the things he was inspired by.

While in Corinth, take a moment to visit the Corinth Canal, connecting the Aegean Sea to the Ionian Sea. Then, travel to Delphi for an overnight.

Day 4: Delphi - Thessaloniki
Begin your day in Delphi, once considered the spiritual heart of ancient Greece, known as the home to the Oracle of Delphi. While we are not sure if Paul ever actually visited Delphi, it reflects the spiritual landscape he encountered, of many gods and false prophets. As you walk through the ruins, you'll reflect on the contrast between these ancient beliefs and Paul's message.

Then, travel to Thessaloniki, a city where Paul established a thriving Christian community during his missionary journeys. Enjoy dinner and an overnight here.

Day 5: Philippi, Kavala & Lydia's Well
Today, journey to Philippi, where Paul first brought the Gospel to Europe. Walk through the ruins of this ancient city, which was once a Roman Colony and center of faith. See the ancient theater and forum, and the remains of the prison where Paul and Silas were held. Reflect on Paul's praises to God that led to an earthquake crumbling the prison, allowing for their escape and the conversion of their jailer (Acts: 16:25-34).

Next, visit the nearby harbor town of Kavala. Standing by the shore, imagine Paul's arrival and the beginning of his mission to spread the Gospel throughout Greece.

Conclude the day at Lydia's Well, the traditional site of Lydia's baptism by the river. Lydia is known as the first convert in Europe (Acts 16:13-15). Gather by the peaceful waters to reflect and join in prayer.

Day 6: Veria, Vergina & Thessaloniki
Start your day in Veria (ancient Berea), a city Paul visited after facing opposition in Thessaloniki. Visit the Bema of Apostle Paul, a monument marking the place where he preached, and reflect on the Bereans' commitment to embracing Paul's message (Acts 17:10-12). While there, you'll also visit the most ancient synagogue in Northern Greece where Paul likely preached.

From Veria, continue to Vergina, a town rich with ancient history as the burial site of Macedonian kings, including King Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great.

Conclude your journey back in Thessaloniki and enjoy a half-day tour of the city. Reflect on Paul's letters to the Thessalonians, offering encouragement and hope, and enjoy the unique city with modern buildings among ancient ruins. Finish with a group dinner to celebrate the foundations Paul laid for Christianity to take root in Greece and Europe.
