Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu
Participants arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu. Airport pick-up and transportation to hotel will be provided for overnight accommodations.

Day 2: Kathmandu
Official expedition activities begin with a fun day of exploring historic Kathmandu, visiting iconic sites like the Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Bakhtapur. Meals will be provided throughout the day.

The expedition experience begins with an orientation dinner to go over trip details. This bustling capital of Nepal, part of a regional UNESCO World Heritage Site, dates back to ancient times when first settled along the trade route to Tibet (approx 400 AD). The cosmopolitan culture of Kathmandu radiates a unique spirit of Hindu and Buddhism evident in surrounding temples and monuments. A rich history of wars and dynasties strengthens the mystical charm that allures travelers here.

Day 3: Kathmandu - Project Community
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Group transportation will then be provided to a developing area of Nepal (4-6 hour distance). Lunch will be provided. Casual hike might be required before participants arrive at a gracious village to be greeted with a warm welcome celebration. Dinner will be served. Time available to unpack, rest, and interact with local residents. Overnight accommodations provided in the village.

Day 4-6: Project Community
Breakfast will be served in the village. Participants will be working hand-inhand with families on village-driven programs focused on farming and entrepreneurship. Lunch will be served in the afternoons with a brief rest provided. Dinner will be served in the evenings. Village activities and in-depth discussions will be provided each night to promote powerful intercultural exchanges between participants and local residents. Overnight accommodations provided in the village.

Day 7: Project Community - Kathmandu
Breakfast served in the village. Ceremonious village farewell scheduled in the morning. Group bus transport will then be provided back to Kathmandu. Lunch will be provided. Arrive to Kathmandu in the late afternoon and check-in to hotel for overnight accommodations. Group dinner will be scheduled in the evening to conclude the expedition and discuss overall impressions with fellow participants. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Kathmandu - Pokhara
Breakfast served at hotel. Possible leisure time to explore Kathmandu or take the 1-hour Everest Flight Tour (see tour add-on). Flight departures throughout the day. Transportation will be provided to Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) for flight departures.

If continuing, catch a morning flight to Pokhara. Pokhara is located in the midwest of Nepal and is the center of adventure and culture. Due to its stunningly beautiful natural setting and its base for trekking in the Annapurna Region, Pokhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal after Kathmandu. It is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking and rafting destinations. The majority of the people of Pokhara are Brahmins and Chettris from Kathmandu, and Tibetan settlers.

Arrive and check into hotel. Rest and lunch will lead to a 1-hour boat tour on Fewa Lake with a visit to the Barahi Temple. Free time at the lake side followed by dinner.

Day 9: Pokhara
Early morning sunrise tour of Annapurna Ranges including Fishtail Mountain, and Dhaula Giri Mountain followed by a visit to Bindabasini Temple. Breakfast at the hotel followed by an educational site visit to the Gupteshwor Cave, Devis Fall, and International Mountain Museum. Lunch to follow.

After a visit to the World Peace Temple on the top of the hill behind Fewa Lake, there is free time for rest and an evening dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Pokhara - Kathmandu
Breakfast followed by time to explore local markets. Early afternoon return flight to Kathmandu hotel. Leisurely evening to explore additional sights and sounds of Kathmandu.

Day 11: Kathmandu
Breakfast followed by time to explore before flight departures.

Day 8 or 11: Everest Flight
Participants will be picked up from hotel at 5AM and transported to the airport for a 1-hour flight tour that circles Everest and the surrounding ranges. Participants will return to Hotel by 10AM.
