Fly Through Customs with Mobile Passport Control (MPC)!

International travel is an exciting experience for everyone, until you reach the lengthy Customs line. U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app is the perfect digital solution to these time-consuming problems!  

Why use MPC?  

Through a free and simple to use app, MPC fast-tracks the Customs process. MPC is offered at most major U.S. airports and groups of up to 12 can approach the customs booth together using one device. This makes MPC a fantastic option for families with children and larger groups. Additionally, travelers are able to declare items in the app, further expediting the return process. MPC is an excellent alternative for travelers who would still like to experience an enhanced Customs process but do not qualify or are waiting for approval for a Trusted Traveler Program such as Global Entry.

Individual Travel Advisor Stephanie Lawhorn recently used MPC when returning to the United States from Barcelona, Spain to Chicago, Illinois. MPC not only helped Stephanie with the stress of clearing customs with its quick and easy design but allowed her to beat her husband, a Global Entry user, by 20 minutes. MPC has provided Stephanie with seamless travel experiences at airports in Atlanta, Dulles, and Chicago.

What to keep in mind when using MPC 

You do not need to use separate devices for each member of your group. Individuals can submit information for several individuals on one device and approach the officer as a group. There is a maximum of 12 people per group when using MPC.  It is still necessary for all travelers to carry the required documents when traveling, even when using MPC.  

Don’t Forget! 

  • Your submission will only remain available for four hours.  
  • You are still required to answer the Customs Declaration questions each time you use MPC upon arrival.  
  • It is important to remember that the MPC app does not serve as a substitute for any travel documents including ESTA for Visa Waiver Program travelers.
